Plein Air Morocco 2014 – past event
Pack up your tubes of paint and favorite brushes and come join us for the painting trip of a lifetime! Master plein air painter Sam Paonessa will be leading a small group of adventurous traveling painters in a 12-day painting workshop in Tetouan, Morocco. Spaces are filling up and the itinerary is getting exciting as we prepare for this very special offering.
Painting outings may include:
- the ancient and remote mountain town of Chefchaouen, with it’s magical blue streets and walls and artisans at work within
- the cork forests of Moulay Abdesalam, home of the barbary apes and unique harvests
- the terrace farms of Zerka valley, lush and hidden from the main thoroughfares of Tetouan
- the labyrinthine streets of Tetouan’s old walled city (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)
- the colorful souks (markets) of fruits, vegetables, handcrafts and cabinetry
- the river valleys and gorges of the region, lush with vegetation and winged wildlife
- the high mountain views of Mt. Bouanaan, Mt. Dersa, and other regional heights
- the Mediterranean coastlines east of Tetouan where fishing villages and stoney beaches sprawl
- the Atlantic coastal town of Assilah, with its strong artist community and muraled walls
