Green Olive Arts by the Numbers since opening in March 2013 …
As we come close to completing our first year as an art residency, we are not inclined to describe Green Olive Arts by mere statistics … but a few people have asked us specific questions, and we have found the numbers to be encouraging.
So here are a few numbers for record as of February 18, 2014:
6 olives in the Green Olive Arts logo (an important statistic, no?)
180 square meters describes our total facility space (if you don’t count the balconies or stairwell)
4 meters of ceiling height … we should be building lofts
12 square meters average studio space per resident
40 lighting fixtures: mixed spectrum fluorescent, incandescent, with spot LED & halogen being installed this week
33 square meters of exhibition floor space with dedicated halogen & LED lighting to illuminate those walls
10 rooms … Thanks to the Zian family for renting us this great space … now including: wood shop, common materials room, full kitchen/dining room, laundry, wash-up area, large multi-purpose room, 2 shared studios, 1 private studio, bathrooms, office and a darkroom (in progress)

12 residents accepted … 5 residencies already successfully completed … and more artists on the way
6 passport countries represented: UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Morocco
11 community classes & workshops held, including 2 intro to drawing classes, 1 Little Painters class, a poetry workshop, bookmaking class, several writer’s workshops and still more scheduled for 2014.
60 local vendors, craftsmen, drivers, shops & housing providers benefiting economically from the work and clientele of Green Olive Arts
